Rotorua District Council's latest State of the Environment Report 2007 contains vital information about what you can do for Rotorua's environment, including:
- Use less power on a daily basis.
- Walk, cycle, rollerblade, take a bus or carpool wherever possible.
- Reduce and reuse things whenever possible.
- Recycle using Rotorua's excellent recycling facilities.
- Join your local community streamcare or landcare group.
Additional information on the Government's new
sustainability website makes it easy to go green. The site features forums, a sustainability challenge and practical steps to live more sustainably.
If you're interested in learning more, check out the Education for Sustainability website. This includes examples of sustainability education in schools as well as current research.
The folks at Rotorua District Council are working toward a sustainability agenda, seeking to lead by example and “walk the talk” before promoting increased sustainability amongst Rotorua communities.
